Artist's Comments

Finally after 6 long months... I was able to overcome my artist's block. This is my first artwork for 2009.

It is also my first try at using colored pencil as a medium and I think it suits my detailed style very well. I enjoyed the control and the colors brought about by this medium.

Special thanks to my good friend, Ray Barlow for allowing me to use his photo as a reference.

Paper: Canson Mi-Tientes
Medium: Faber-Castell Colored Pencil

Beautiful. I adore blue herons. Excellent detail on the eye, beak, and feathers.

This is gorgeous. Great job using the colored pencils. I think you are correct that it lends itself to your details and the colors just pop.

Aren't they great?
